I whisper "I'll miss you" to myself. It's not an overt missing, not an active moment that comes each day when you remember and reflect on the missing.
It's a piece of your soul that is gone.
It's a part of you that is forever changed for ever having had them in your life.

The miracle of the Olympics is watching thousands of people across hundreds of sports, all bursting with hope, trying to achieve an impressive goal they've been working toward for years (if not their entire life).
It is the most hope-filled, universal world event. What else allows you to witness something like that? Nothing of any comparable scale that I can think of.

In short, the WLC (I'll call it that from now on) is a 2-month healthy habit challenge, that makes you focus in every day to make sure you're making the right choices. It includes a pretty restrictive diet (if you go "prescribed"), and the expectation that you'll do at least 10 minutes of active recovery and 10 minutes of mobility (C-Rellahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03694755106272319354noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7648954633123903486.post-13341061825228187612013-01-17T22:33:00.001-05:002013-01-17T22:33:19.770-05:00C-Rellahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03694755106272319354noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7648954633123903486.post-28491593911689909242013-01-17T17:17:00.000-05:002013-01-17T17:17:37.629-05:00

I wanted to focus on living with INTENT, and so I thought of using the word intention, but that word seemed too broad. It's a concept where you pick a single word to orient yourself to in a given year.
I posted on it previously here. This year I'm following a more structured, prompt-oriented program, Ali Edward's "One Little Word" workshop.

One of the things I have been mourning is a loss of family traditions. With just John and I, it is hard to have much in the way of rituals that we share. He's an atheist, we have no kids, and as a byproduct of those (and other) factors, most "holi"days are not a big thing for us.
One tradition we do have is making breakfast together. Moments of denial and hope still find me,
and then the truth - that my father is gone - envelops me.
A brightness has been lost.
The world is muted and muffled.
I am inside a heavy blanket of grief.
My skin stings as if it has been cut a thousand times.
My heart is crushed.
The threads of my life have been cut.
